My favorite part of the "Cool things with no purpose" postings is that, as an anonymous relative working at a research university that concentrates in technology, I appreciate all these "Cool things with no purpose" because someday they will be vital to our every day lives. E-Z Pass, touch screen interfaces, GPS... these are all technologies based on the premise from some "Cool Thing with No Purpose" that a junior at Carnegie Mellon came up with most likely to try and impress a girl.
