Top 5 Light Hearted Comedies

Unlike the my list of prettiest baseball plays, this list can be legitimately challenged by the imaginary readership. I haven't seen all that many movies but, when recently pressed to name some favorite comedies, I came up with the following:

1. My Cousin Vinny ("Oh, a counta auwffa")
2. Princess Bride ("Inconceivable")
3. Anchor Man ("Whale anatomy")
4. Groundhog Day ("Oui")
5. Monty Python - Search for the Holy Grail ("Blue, no yellow")

OK, which ones did I miss?

6 comments:

  1. "Your honor, these two yutes..."
    "What was that, that word?"
    "What word?"
    "Two what? Yutes?"
"Oh, sorry your honor...these two YOUTHS"

    I'll play--
you need Happy Gilmore in here "Hey, why don't I just go eat some hay, make things out of clay, lay by the bay? I just may! What'd ya say?" Hey I like golf and the endless love song at the hockey rink..
, and Blazing Saddles which I saw at the State in 1982..."Mongo only pawn"..JD

I can't speak to Anchor Man or Princess Bride...they must have been rated R or something. However, to muddy the waters, I thought of another instant classic though...Talladega Nights-- the ballad of Ricky Bobby. Awesome flick. "Why, if it isn't our mangy, transient grandfather"

For me 1) Happy Gilmore 2) Talladega Nights (not sure why it slipped my mind) and 3....I can't make the tough call. JD...

Is 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High' considered a light-hearted comedy? "Learning about Cuba, and having some food". RF

  6. I had Fast Times in the 6th slot. Could promote it...but what to remove? Blogging is a tough business.
